Praise for Ocado.

Finally decided to go down the internet delivered grocery route last week. Did a bit of research and ended up choosing Ocado.

I'm really impressed
  • polite friendly drivers who so far have been bang on time.
  • good selection esp the Waitrose stuff (nearest Waitrose is miles away - would never consider driving there unless it was on the way to somewhere else but I really like their stuff).
  • texts four hours before reminding you about delivery and letting you know about substitiutions/missing items.
BUT the best thing of all is that I no longer have to trawl the local Tesco - sharing the aisles with: loud, rude people with screaming kids, dithering folk who can't steer trolleys properly, Tesco staff with huge wheeled things which take up 3/4 of the aisle. The worst of all are the gangs of youths who roam the store in the evenings, running down the aisles and making strange noises (being totally ignored by the security guard who just lets them get on with it) They don't buy anything so I don't know why the management lets them do it <shrugs>

A combination of occasional farm shop visits for good meat and a pleasant morning's drive/Ocado main shop and top up shops from local businesses is a much better way to shop.

Some of you will agree with me. Probably a lot won't especially if you are one of the types I mentioned above. But do I care? Nope.

Ocado ROCKS!

Just posting this in case anyone else is fed up with their chavtastic local supermarket and thinking about an alternative.

Tak.

I've got a £15 voucher somewhere so was thinking of trying them. I've heard good things...

They give you vouchers as well - I got one for some wine with my first order.

    I'm seriously impressed so far.

Have used online delivery for years, I alternate between Tesco and Ocado. Why would you brave the store when you can have someone carry it to your door? (insert now none existant confused smiley!!)

We have been using Ocado for a few years now and would not go anywhere else. Hardly ever have substitutions (unlike other on-line supermarkets have used in the past), good quality, polite drivers (mostly) and always on time. Our Christmas delivery, day before Chistmas Eve was bang on time with no substitutions. On a large order that was pretty impressive. Only grumble is sometimes the packing is poor but that is pretty much the only problem area.
  • I always use Ocado and wouldn't go anywhere else now. Their service is excellent and I've never had any missing items!

    Hi
I also use Ocado and think that they are fab- as others have experienced they are always polite, on time and there are very few subsitutions. The quality of their fresh fruit and vegetables is excellent-far better than any other online supermarket.

On the issue of poor packing at the depot- this had happened to me and OH a couple of times. Now we ring the number at the top of our receipt straight away and explain and they always deduct the cost of the spoiled/damaged items(usually prepack salads and bananas) from the total. Marvellous service!
