Rotten egg smell

When I spin my washer, there is a rotten egg smell. The sink has the same smell when the water disappears:eek:. If I call out the washing machine repair man and the problem is in the drains, he will charge me, and vice a versa with the sink. Does anyone know how I can tell which is causing the smell?

it is quite probably just a blocked trap , a lot of washers run in to the u bend for the kitchen sink and although not the most plesant job it is fairly easy to stick a bucket under the big lump on the pipe that is trap and then unscrew it and take it away to blast it out
you can also try boiling water and soda crystals first although I usually find that I end up needing to unscrew it anyway.0 -
if its the drains fill your sink up to top with hot strong bleach water and let it out to flush your drains - do this a few times and see if its better - we do this and is solves it.
Yes also do a hot wash (with no clothes) in washer and add loads of bleach to flush that out but be aware on next wash there may still be traces of bleachSave saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0 -
I had this problem when the waste pipe of the washing machine dropped down lower than the exit point. The pipe couldn't empty completely so some of the stale water sat in the pipe until I next used it. Make sure the waste pipe is correctly placed.
Good Luck
