Talk about their new billing being confusing. I think I've got my head round it now. Am I right in thinking that I can have free anytime calls for just over £1 a month more than I pay for evening and weekends?

Better still if you call BT Customer Option Team on 0800 800 030 make sure you ask for them.

Tell them your interested in going on the Unlimited anytime plan normally £4.99 a month (One Year Rolling Contract) their give you a £24 credit off your first or second bill if you ask them, and charge you £3.99 a month for the bundle.

BT has recently updated its website and it not longer shows any details of the Unlimited Evening & Weekend calls plan. It now only shows the (free) Unlimited Weekend Plan and the (£4.99/month) Unlimited Anytime Plan.

Yet if you click on the T&C for that link http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/dynamicmodules/pagecontentfooter/pageContentFooterPopup.jsp?pagecontentfooter_popupid=24641
the Evening and Weekend plans still appear to exist

BT are clearly hoping that the increase in daytime charges coupled with the redefinition of daytime (moving to 7am to 7pm from April 1st) will drive people onto the Anytime package - they can then drop E & W package

Just tried that, they will only do £4.99 a month, and only offered the £24 credit when I asked for it! But their system is down at the moment so they couldn change me to unlimited anytime but not arrange the credit so need to call again later!

    Hi
I have just been on the phone to BT and the system is still down but she said the deal they could over me was the anytime package at a monthly rate of £4.99 and a credit of £36.00.But i would have to phone back later when the system was back up.
Doesn't seem a bad deal as the anytime cost would over the 12 months work out at £1.99

Hi I have just spent 30 minutes in a queue to BT about this offer only to be told now that i need a offer code to be able to get this deal she says the deal is sent out to people through the post.
Has anyone received such an offer?

    Thanks
  • Is it legal for BT to charge me £x for line rental and then charge £4+ for 'processing' since I am not paying through Direct Debit? Are there BT shops where I can pay over the counter?
I would rather pull my teeth out than being bullied into Direct Debit!!

Result!!! After several attempts to get through to BT,( I now feel that Scottish woman is a personal friend) and having spend 35mins on hold I have got what I wanted, Unlimited anytime and £24 credit. She said it's a special offer where they give you £1 off line rental and £1 off the £4.99 cast of Unlimited Anytime, they then give it to you all in one go off your first bill. Well worth the wait.

Yes, tested in the courts and discussed many times on here.

The money-saving advice is to pay by Whole Bill Direct Debit (you have total control then because you can require your bank to reverse a transaction if you say you have been overcharged).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
