National Grid contractor complaint advise.

Hello
We've currently got a company called Gas Alliance who is being contracted by National Grid to replace all the gas pipes in the street,
They have also been removing the meters and placing them outside for free, However they have done almost all the houses meters outside, but when they came to our the workers said they can't do ours and are only doing the ones that are necessary, But they said if we give them £300 cash in hand then they will do it, I thought this was very unfair as they've done our neighboars and the rest of the street for free, so i contacted the manager/supervisor and he said the workers shoudln't be doing this and he will come down to check the meter,
The supervisor never came and yesterday the workers came and replaced the pipes and left the meter inside the house, they still have replaced the dug up slabs.
I really wanted to get the meter outside so is there any advise on this situation? I'm going to make a complaint to national grid monday morning, but is there anything else I can do?
I spoke to the supervisor again and he said that they were only replacing ones that were necessary, but he never actually came to see the meter!,
I have advised him that we will be complaining to national grid, is there any more i can do?

No reliance should be placed on the above.

It isn't GasAlliances fault that their emloyer has told them which meters to replace and which not to replace and resite as part of this process so there is no point whatsoever complaining to National Grid about Gas Alliance.
What you do is contact them and ask why did my meter not get moved, apparently under your instructions, when virtually everyone elses has been as I beleive it would be to our mutual advantage if it was.
However, if you want to complain you could head your complaint. "I wanted something for nothing but your contractor wouldn't do it!" Stamping your foot a bit at the same time might help.
Can you see which is the more logical aproach and which most likely to get a result?

i've tried contacting Gas Alliance in regards to sorting the situation out amicably but they refused to comment on why they are not going to move the meter, there seems to be no justification in why they have not moved mine apart from being peed off that I notified the manager that the employees were asking for cash to move it,
They employer national grid i don't believe have told them at all which ones to move outside or not, the gas alliance people came down had a look and said they won't do it, only for cash,
I understand what you are saying but they are not replying or giving any reasons at all.No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
Hello
Just an update on the situation,
after getting no where with the contractors Gas Alliance, I made a formal complaint to National Grid regarding the situation,
National Grid sent one of the managers in the local area to the house, He stated that they instructed Gas Alliance not to move the meters if possible, but then he spoke to his manager who came down and had a look and said the meter should have been moved outside as it can be considered that it is in a dangerous place,
anyway to cut a long story short, National Grid agreed to move the meter outside, Gas Alliance will be returning to our house next week to get the meter moved outside and also to replace a couple of slabs they broke.
so if anyone else is in this situation then it would be worth taking it further if you believe that the contractors have made a wrong decision. No reliance should be placed on the above.0
