Windowsill planting...

Hi Guys

Desperate to get started so have sown seeds for 10 leeks, 10 onions, some basil, cress, mustard and lettuce in homemade paper pots with milk carton plant lables :-)

They are all sitting in my wee propogator and think they should all come up

Wondered though... should I sow some spring onions too? I'm sick of waiting for warmer weather. I want to get started NOW!!!

Gx

Hiya, no I wouldn't sow spring onions, I know its not very nice to have to wait, but the plants will have other ideas :D IYSWIM

I'm quite certain they will all come up, is the propogator heated? they will anyway, just might take abit longer if its not heated. They will grow because thats what they are meant to do.

Never grown leeks but I know there are different types, which ones have you sown? It might be about the right time for onions from seed, again what type? Cress grows all year round so no problems there. Never grown basil or mustard. Lettuce might be okay, do you have somewhere covered for when it goes outside.

No, my propogator isn't heated but it's sitting on my kitchen windowcill on the inside so nice and toastie :-)

Quite excited.... a few of my leeks have made an appearance and couple of my onions too. Decided to grow everything from seed this year.

I know it's unwise but I'm going to sow 2 tiny little spring onion seeds... just to see what happens... I like to have salad on my windowcill to take to work for lunch

Go for it with the spring onions, raddish is another simple one that you can bring on well indoors.
