Barclays Commission

Hello All,

my parents have transferred £50,000 from a Spanish bank to Barclays, which they have been customers for over 30 years. After a couple of weeks, this has gone through but have been charged £40 comission which I think is an outrage, as they have also been charged £14 for the transfer.

is there any way this can be claimed back?

cheers for the replies

No. Your parents knew the charge and agreed to use their services. They could have done it cheaper but they chose not to.

£54 to transfer 50k, sure it's money for old rope for the bank, but it's still only 0.1% fee

Your parents should contact the Spanish bank who will explain how they charge for overseas transfers. It could be that they go through a routing bank or via Madrid which may be why there is the fee given.
