Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone tell me
I have just the Sky box and a Philip's Recorder DVD/Video
if I wanted to watch one channel and record on another channel how would I do this as we have now had the Analog switched off

Dehaani's right. You'll either need to add another digital TV tuner (a Freeview box in your case) or upgrade to Sky +.
There are also Freeview+ boxes but it's worth checking your Freeview reception first.
It's effectively what you used to do with analogue TV - your TV had one tuner and the VCR had another... so you could watch one thing and record another.0
