    Make sure none of the contacts are corroded anywhere. Especially if you left anything disconnected for a bit. You can get a spray can called electrical contact cleaner which may help if this is the cause. I would expect them to replace it though.

    Yeah I guess they would probably get amateur mechanics in who have no idea which part is faulty and try a swap each bit and if it doesn't help go get a refund. Certainly puts the onus on the buyer to know exactly what part of their car is causing a particular problem.

    Have you tried swapping it on the side that works, and put the working bulb into the side that currently doesn't work?

    You can also use a bit of wire, identify which bulb terminal is negative & rest that bulb terminal directly onto the battery -tve terminal and clamp a bit of wire into the battery +ve terminal clamp and connect the end of the wire to the other terminals on the bulb one by one. If you want to do it more professionally you will need a mini crimp fitting on the end of the wire suitable for the terminals.
