Todays Give away of the day

Options
Has anyone taken advantage of the Giveawayoftheday today (Crave World Clock)? I did and it appeared on screen for a while then went, I'm wondering if I've done anything wrong.

    So when they say

"That means – not a trial, not a limited version – but a registered and legal version of the software will be free for our visitors*."

They then say in small print

"may also limit software updates and technical support."

So basically they'll give you the software for free. Install some sort of DRM which allows you to get the licence but I assume stops you sticking in on p2p, with some of the software. And if there is a big security hole in the software you may never get an update as they may limit the updates.

Think I'll probably skip that site.

Their custom installer for Crave World Clock insists on connecting to the Internet during the install, if it can't it fails. They have no mention of why it needs to connect, what data it's collecting and what data it's sending back to them.

Of course you are right, but that doesn't stop thousands of people worldwide taking advantage of the daily free offer in the full knowledge as they say of no free technical advice or updates. Currently I have several successful items from them and all work well. Having taken the tip from the worldstart forum I know it comes with a wealth of experienced users. As they say, it is an offer, one either takes it or leaves it.

I have, and there is the Crave World Clock icon. I've right clicked on several of the 16 titles, to kick start it to no avail.

my goodness, I haven't got that far. I had the desktop world map at one stage, but as it wasn't filling the full screen, I thought I'd experiment, that's where I went wrong and can't pull it back.

Oh, the particular piece of download software shows a flat world atlas which in turn shows day/night time along with worldwide cities and their correct time. Unnecessary perhaps, but quirky all the same and whilst it is free today, one can always in it tomorrow.

No, don't remove anything. I always think that someone else might benefit. Thanks for trying though.
