It is to see if there is anything they can do to help you prepare for work in the future.

The same thing happens if you are off sick long term but still have a job open to return to! The system can't seem to cope with the situation. Based on my experience you will find the people you see couldn't be nicer and are just as fed up with it as you are.

It may be possible to combine a job with caring, depending on circumstances - I have colleagues who do so. That doesn't mean to say it's possible for you, but that's the idea of the interview.
  • I had a letter like this a few years back. I am a full time carer for my husband, I went to the interview and explained the situation, they were fine with it. They advised it was in case I was looking to get back into work....explained I couldn't due to being a carer. Not heard anything since as they now have it my records of my carer status.
Hope this helps....try not to worry, I was a bit panicky when I got the letter but JC were fine.

  • I also go every six months and asked about this yesterday. It's because I am also a lone parent.

Interesting...so because we are lone parent carers we have to attend a WFI every six months, but if we were not LP's then we could attend every 3 years
