BT Basic

http://www.btplc.com/inclusion/Needhelp/BTBasic/index.htm

My father is legible for this under his pension credit he receives. A few questions about this though...

Can you still use broadband? What happens if you have an existing broadband provider? Do you have to be with BT broadband or can you be with anyone you choose (that's if broadband is allowed).

I was trying to find the price list for "other" calls on this BT Basic plan. How much are mobile calls and calls to cheap 0844 numbers like dialaround.

Have a read of the leaflet which answers all your points.

Bear in mind you cant use another phone company so calls to access numbers may be a problem.

Apparently the pdf is out of date that as I've been searching. You can apparently get 1 hour free weekend calls too on BT Basic (landlines only). Also you can have ADSL broadband and any call not within the 10p charge are charged at BT unlimited weekend package rates - eg. mobiles, 0844 etc. Please can someone confirm?

Also with £4.50 of use each quarter, is it really £1.50 per month of £4.50 spread across the entire quarter, so in the first month, I could use £4.50 and have to wait 2 more months to get the credit again?

Yes, but the 1 hour "free" calls are to 0845 and 0870 numbers only. Non 01/02/03/055/056 are at the unlimited weekend package rates. Normal landlines are 10p/min even at the weekend.

If you are on quarterly billing it is £4.50 during each quarter's charging period. If you are on monthly billing it is £1.50 per month. So it's best to be on quarterly billing. If you are on monthly billing (through the online service) before switching to BT basic it will stay on monthly billing until you request a change to quarterly.

Calls to indirect access codes are normally barred.
