Can anyone help me out with how to do this please? These are all DVDs I own so as far as I know I'm not doing anything wrong .
I have had a quick look on Google, but there's so many options that have come back, I don't know what's easy to use and actually works, so I'm really after reccomendations and a explanation of what I need to do. If it's difficult, I may need step by step instructions
Thank you!

Does this put the files onto iTunes first or is it a drag and drop thing onto the iPod?? I want to be able to watch the DVDs on my Laptop through iTunes, my iPod is a 4th Gen Nano, so the screen's not big enough to watch them on that!
Handbrake has two Windows options, one says "GUI" the other says "CLI" - what are they talking about and how do I know which one to go for?!
Thank you both for replying so quickly!0 -

Follow the links given cause iTunes won't do it. As DVDs are encrypted and it's technically illegal to break the encryption to back them up. I'm only saying that to explain why iTunes won't do it.
However, a lot of people that own DVDs still do it as no one is every going to know, unless of course you did the naughty and shared them on p2p (which I'm not saying you're going to do). Also I'm sure we have a law that states you're entitled to make a backup copy of your CDs/DVDs for your own personal use.
Anyway, DVD Decrypter is good for ripping DVDs. HandBrake is good for then converting them for the iPod. But as someone has pointed to, videora looks good.0 -
GUI obviously... + pay attention to post above and be very patient- it will be long process (Shortest using HandBrake)
Best of luck!0 -

Are you saying I can't use iTunes to watch the DVDs I want to rip? That I can get the files onto the laptop but then I have to put them onto an iPod to watch them, because iTunes will stop me doing this??GUI obviously... + pay attention to post above and be very patient- it will be long process (Shortest using HandBrake)

Than you! This must be a silly question, but I don't know what GUI and CLI are, what is is obviously GUI?? When you say pay attention to the post above, do you mean from the grey area of the legalities?? I've no intention of doing anything other than trying to put a few DVDs onto my laptop so I can then stash the DVDs away in the loft. I wouldn't know how to share files anyway!0 -
I'm not sure if it is still the case as it used to be, but how powerful the graphics card is directly relates to how fast you can rip a DVD. I remember when DVD were new and ripping them on a standard computer witha a Geforce 1 card took a day a DVDSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
