Hi,
We had a room plastered about 6 months ago. Now we are going to paint it. Last time we had to put a water/paint mix up first before proper painting but I can remember the quantities used for the mix?
Getting anywhere from 50/50 to 80/20 suggested....:(
Anyone know whats correct please?
Thanks

50/50 is normal with good quality paint. there is no definite answer as all paints are variable quality and all walls are different. temps etc...
just mix it till it feels about right. make a trial mix. remember the ratios.Get some gorm.0 -
you need the paint thin enough to soak into the plaster rather than being too thick and just forming a skin , when you put it on you should almost be able to see the plaster thru it , also add a splash of water to the next couple of coats as well .0

^^^^ Wot Nick said!.
The ratio for a mist coat will depend on how thick the paint you are using is. Some trade paints are quite thick do need more water. Bog standard contract matt at an 80/20 paint/water mix is usually just fine for the mist coat. Whatever you do don't use Dulux Rich Matt for a mist coat IMO. Very little adherence.
Different peeps do it in slightly different ways (nobody is necessarily right or wrong). I thin the first main coat by about 10% and then the topcoat neat.
