Scooter insurance first time rider!

Just become the proud owner of an Aprilia Habana Custom 125cc scooter, always wanted an old Vespa but have been advised to go for something without gears untill i get the feel of them, anyway Im due to collect this scoot at the weekend and will need insurance. Does anyone know who the cheapest is, i just got a quote from Bennets at £430 for the year, a bit much i think. I only have a provisional licence and i am a 35 yrs old male.

Thats not a bad price, try choicequote, is that Full Comp insurance?

Scooters are seen as high risk due to how many are crashed/stolen.

    Enjoy your new bike :)

    Hiya

I had a Vespa.. but the habanas are lovely - have you got the blue one or the black one?

When I had my scooter, the cheapest ones I found were:

RAC, Hastings, AA, but when I first got it, I went through Wensum insurance brokers with Zenith, mind you it had a £500 excess cause i was in Leeds (but my bike got nicked twice, and they were brilliant!)

Definitely try http://www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk I have heard however that their quotes for learner riders aren't that great. Costs nothing to get a quote though. One thing possibly worth considering is getting the insurance on pay-as-you go monthly then convert to an annual policy at a lower premium once you pass your test (and you should definitely plan to take your test)

Otherwise pick up a copy of RIDE magazine (best of the bunch IMHO) and ring around the insurers who advertise at the back. I can certainly recommend Carole Nash as a company worth speaking to. They gave me a great quote when I was a learner a few years back.

    Good luck and safe riding.
