Car Scrappage Schem how do I do it?
Hi everyone..
I have a very good condition (under 80k) 12 year old citroen which is a proper little workhorse, and I've had it since new, and kept it fully serviced and maintained.
I heard yesterday that the scrappage scheme will be ending on the 28th of February, so I think the time may have come to end the relationship with my little friend and buy a new little runaround if I'm going to get 2 grand for the Citroen so to speak. Only shame is that I understand the citroen will be scrapped... it's a lovely car but as it's 12 years old I'd only get a fraction of that in a private sale!:(
Can anyone explain to me how to actually go about trading it in? Do all dealers do this, can I go to any and ask for the trade in. Does the car that I buy have to be brand new or over a certain value?
I'll be paying cash, so could I still haggle even with the 2 grand off?
Not really looking for another citroen in particular just looking for a new car that is very reliable and cheap!:D

Well a friend of mine went to the local Citroen dealer to buy a new Berlingo van. He had a 12 year old Astra van and the dealer told him he could get as much discount off the new and keep his old van! My advice would be to shop around for the best straight sale price of a new car - try drivethedeal or autotrader new section for the car you are after - say a Citroen C1 and when you have that price go to the Citroen dealer and present your new car for scrappage. By the way Kia are doing some cracking scrappage deals at the moment with an awesome warranty that is the envy of the rest of the motor industry. Let us all know how you get on!0

That's interesting about keeping the Van #dodo..altho' I'm probably not going to spend as much money as a new berlingo costs, just looking to get a little runaround...(well not as low as a 1.0 ..I have to do motorway driving and I don't wanna take a week to get there:p)...but something small anyway.
Not thought about Kias' but I'll have a look into that,
It would be nice if I could hold onto the Citroen as well tho', but I think I'll have to get resigned to it goingKnowledge is often mistaken for intelligence. This is like mistaking a cup of milk for the whole cow.0
