Redundant yesterday, a few questions

Yesterday I was made redundant, somewhat expectedly, as the company had been struggling for a number of months. I have worked there for a little over 3years, and i'm currently owed 6 weeks salary.

The company made all staff redundant yesterday, and will be appointing administrators early next week (who apparently contact us to explain how to go about claiming). I've contacted the Job Centre and just waiting to hear back for an appointment.

My questions really revolve around how much i'm owed... i'm aware that any back claims or redundancy payments are capped at £380pw, is that correct? If so, in addition to the 6 weeks salary i'm now owed, what other payments should i expect, notice period, redundancy?

I hope to get a new job soon, and therefore not have to claim on the 6 months income insurance protection i have.... but if it goes over 30 days, and i can claim the insurance, does anyone know if i would be penalised from thereon by the insurance company in terms of a higher monthly premium because i have claimed... much like car insurance?

Thanks for any info!

As an employee you're a "preferred creditor" so likely to get the 6 weeks salary. Having only worked there 3 years you won't get much redundancy - 3 to 6 weeks pay depending on age.

The "no claims" thing - not sure.

    good luck with job hunting
