Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. Bought a new comp middle of December everything has been fine up to now, however since yesterday I have not been able to load certain sites. i.e pogo alot of my daughters sites like bratz where she plays games and the games on facebook wont load we just get a blank page. we have been able to access all of this ok up to yesterday. We have internet explorer and the were working ok on that before,
Would be grateful for any help. Thanks

do you have the same problems with an alternative browser eg Firefox? also worth checking your system with reputable anti virus software (which we hope you have installed, and have automatic security updates for windows turned on, and daughters trained how not to download junk/toolbars/phishing software as they browse the internet )

Hi yes its the same with firefox, i have windows security turned and have mcafee which i have already done a virus scan with and nothing is coming up on that. The kids are supervised on the sites they go on and she mainly goes on iplayer face book etc.

hmmm, sounds a little unusual, obvious things to try would be reinstalling/updating adobe shockwave, adobe flash, java etc but might not be that affecting both browsers, could be a security or firewall setting somewhere. what exactly do you mean by 'windows security turned'? on/off and where?

PS Mcafee is pretty useless as an AV (we have it at work, it lets heaps through), you'd be better off with one of the more reliable free ones like "Microsoft Security Essentials", Avast or Avira**. If you bank with Barclays you can get Kaspersky for free too

**Avira so long as they've fixed their update server problems
