Natwest safety deposit box enquiry

Members,
I wish to insert some items in a small safety box with Natwest. Is this insured incase natwest lose these items? I know it costs £44 quid per year, plus charges for taking the item out and back in again which I'm fine with, as long as it stops theft of course as these certain items hold a very strong sentimental value, and worth.
I never just assume on anything as I'm always over the top careful with everything.
I'm just after advice on the following questions:
1. Are the items insured incase natwest release it to a unknown party?
(I'm guessing it is if you are paying for this service)
2. Is it left with Natwest by my own risk?
3. Has anyone used this service here?
4. Any experiences?
The reason for my sudden interest is because a 'friend' of mine just had his house broken into while he was at work. (nah not me lol)
He lives 20 miles down the road in a posh area so go figure. Luckily nothing truely valuable was stolen. All cards cancelled of course.
I was interested before this so now I am pretty much dead keen on it.
So... anyway, any advice? I'm going to the bank on Monday and see if they can give me a leaflet of some kind about this.
Regards
Vap.

1. Are the items insured incase natwest release it to a unknown party?
(I'm guessing it is if you are paying for this service) No, you need to provide your own insurance but there are processes in place to avoid what you suggest.
2. Is it left with Natwest by my own risk? Yes
3. Has anyone used this service here? I work for them
4. Any experiences? The service has improved recently with a move to a centralised audit system for safe custody.0 -
Many thanks. I'll start looking at insurances ect. Still keen on using natwest too of course.
