Bank of Scotland PPI

Does anyone have any advice. I have recieved as additional payment from the Bank of Scotland.

I received a refund without any breakdown and on the advice of the customer service advisor the money was issued to me in the form of a cheque.

About two months later i received an additional cheque for a completely different amount, with a letter informing me that this was to conclude the PPI claim.

I have today received a letter to inform me that the monies was paid to me in error and they are now going to debit my credit card for the second amount.

Please does anyone have any advice because i do not know where to turn or what to do.

Thanks

    Hi and welcome.

    Well done on your success.

I think I read this happened with someone else before as well, and I think they do have a right to ask for the amount back they paid in error, although this is no fault of your own.
If they are taking the amount from you, then you could write and ask to come to some sort of an affordable arrangement.
Do you mind posting the extra error amount they have paid into your account? Cheers.
Maybe a letter could be put together.

I would as well ask that they provide you with the calculations in a full detailed written breakdown, in case anything is amiss.

Going back to the error payment, do not quote what I said though, but hopefully someone will post up with the correct answers on this for you.

    Good luck.;)

Hi scotland01, I had an "offer" in a letter from a firm when i had my complaint with FOS and I had to call them to accept the offer. I did call them and the statutory interest was wrong as i thought but the amount was "better" than I expected. They told me when on the phone that the offer was wrong completely (I knew it was and I suppose i did the right thing in ringing them) and they were withdrawing it BUT if i had not rang them i would have thought (and could have spent it really IF i did not know the true amount but most would not) it was coming my way. I rang FOS and asked FOS about them sending out a legit offer that was wrong and they told me that even if I had received the cheque and it was wrong they had a right to ask for it back if it was a genuine mistake. I did however get £250 added to my correct amount for being genuine to them so well chuffed.
