Windows Software - not Microsoft!

Options
Good day

Hubby and I will be having the windows replaced in our house sometime after April this year. Our entire estate has dark brown wooden windows, and some people have had UPVc brown replacing their old ones.

Of course, hubby wants to break the mould (and probably upset the neighbours) by going all white (including the soffits, fascia etc). I need convincing!!

My question is - is there some sort of software out there where I can take a picture of the house and then 'engineer' the photo so the windows etc are white so that I can see what it looks like?

Thanks in advance

Lesley

    Try paint.net.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

    Ditto......
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

The GIMP, it is free. Or picassa for an online solution.

RE: the new windows, where I live we have to replace like-with-like, our old wooden windows had a glazing bar at the mid-way point, our new d/g ones don't.

If the house is old check your deeds sometimes deeds are really anal, and you have to have a specific colour of door or window frames, So just check it doesnt have to be a listed building to have some odd restrictions.

Restrictive covenants in deeds are almost invariably unenforceable and can safely be ignored.

I like the look of clean White 'woodwork' too, my close was built with all white wood. Over the years every single one went Bbrown (Rosewood) UPVC. Finally we went the same last month.

The thing is for White to work it need the whole area to be the same, although its all made of UPVC there is a perception that the darkwood colours mimic good hardwood which is an expensive material whilst White is cheap wood painted.

Going White among the browns would in my opinion just mark you out as the 'poor' household in the street instead of the desired impression of individuality.

I know it seems unfair, good White UPVC can cost a lot more than poor Rosewood but these subconscious evaluations are built into human nature.
