Unoccupied Buildings/Landlords insurance

Hi

I very recently lost my Mum and her buildings/contents insurance is now invalid. Could anyone recommend an insurance company for buildings /landlord insurance? Thanks for your time.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Try rentguard, they have a 90 day unoccupancy policy. http://www.rentguard.co.uk/ not sure if they deal direct to consumers or just through intermediaries, you would have to check with them.

Landlord insurance is still considered a commercial type of policy (though this is going to change as a number of personal insurers are currently working on introducing buy to let insurance policies) and so you options for "direct" insurers is very limited but most brokers will be able to place business for you.

    Thanks for your reply Astaroth

Although the house won`t be let, I just need it covered whilst Probate is being sorted and will only really need buildings as opposed to buildings/contents. As far as I can see I only have the option of Landlords insurance. Will this cause any problems because Probate hasn`t been granted?
