What are my options?

I'm new to the forum and I would like your advice.

Background info: I'm an EU national, came to study in the UK (Newcastle) in 2007 (masters) and stayed. Opened bank account in 09/2007 (NatWest Step Account). Got a job in January 2009 - fulltime, which was paid into my Step Account. Moved in with boyfriend in August 2008, opened Current Plus account with NatWest in 09/2009.

I lost my job last December, am currently doing temp work for an agency. I'm starting a new job in London on 1st February 2010. Boyfriend is looking for a job in London. I'll move down there and rent a room until he has found a job and then we'll rent a flat together.

The problem: I need some cash to afford the move! Deposit is still stuck in our current house. As I have been unemployed for a month (and didn't earn much at my previous job) we are short in money. I need about £700 to survive in London for the first month, after that it will be fine as new job pays very well.

I applied for an overdraft with Natwest and got £250 so pretty standard. Looked into getting credit card but was rejected twice! (Once with Tesco and once with barclaycard Initial) I checked my credit report online which is fine - no late payments etc., only problem is that I have never had credit in this country and only been living here since September 2007.

Is there a credit card that I will definitely get accepted for? Don't want to keep trying in the hope of getting one as a lot of searches in a short time affect credit score. Getting one in boyfriend's name is not an option as he has quite a lot of debt (he did undergraduate masters, graduate diploma in law, and barvocational course so 6 years of studying and a lot of fees - big student debt + debenhams credit card + overdraft on graduate account).

Or can I get money in another way? Looked into short term loan as I don't need THAT much so will be able to pay back in about 2 months, but the interest rates are ridiculous!

Help me please :kisses3:
