PPI reclaimin

Hi
Im in the middle of reclaiming PPI from Halifax. After several letters they wrote to me in December to say whilst not accepting liability they felt as a valued customer it might not have been appropriate on the loan I took out. They are going to write to me again with an offer that they say would put me in the position I would have been in had I not taken out the insurance which is great! However they have said that because my loan is still current and I owe money they will deduct it from the balance.
Does anyone know if they can do this or if I am entitled to ask for the money back??
Apologies if its somewhere on the site but I couldnt find it
Thanks

I have read on other posts that if you are not in arrears on your account then you can request the money directly to yourself. End of the day just tell them that you would have had an extra amount of funds each month in your own bank which could have been used for other things0

Hi Louise
I agree with Greg's post, if in arrears they can do this, but if not you can request they refund this directly to you.
Because its an offer and they have not admitted liability, they seem to do what they want to do, but if your not happy with the way this have been dealt with, let them know first and tell them what you want, if you still feel the decision is wrong, let them know and tell them you believe you were mis sold due to the reasons you given on your letter, and believe that even if its an offer - because of your reasons you have been deprived of your own money, and out of pocket, ask them to reconsider if they can pay this directly to you.
It is entirely up to you of course what you decide to do, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
