My vanquis card started out at around 34% with a £500 limit five years ago.
I paid £25 per year annual fee.
My aim was to rebuild my credit rating after being made bankrupt in 2002 and vanquis was the first card I succeeded in obtaining afterwards.

I looked after the account well and after 18 months my limit had increased by stages to £2000.
Some months I paid off my balance in full, other times I would pay part and so pay vanquis some interest. After all, I felt grateful to them for allowing me this opportunity.
However, my interest rate, for whatever reasons, steadily rose to reach 54.9% - 20% more than at the start .
I had begun by then to obtain one or two other mainstream cards with no annual fee so decided I had paid my dues to vanquis and cancelled the card a year ago.
