i know a few people who have done it,, but the terms and conditions say it must be your only student account so if you get caught(i dont know how you would) theymight do something0

you could open loads get the freebies and then close them, dont do what i did and end up oweing 3k! (all paid 0ff...thanks mum lol)I Don't like you!0

often you don't get the freebies unless you pay in your grant cheque, or a large sum of money (i don't know whether they mind if you then transfer it out again to a different bank!).:happyhear0

does anyone know of any good accounts for next year (sept 06)
i'm just after the freebies really as i dont want/need the overdraft0 -
its possible (whistles innocently)
althought, the more you do, the more likely you are to be caught
as said above, all they need to do is think they are your main number 1 student account, and how do they do this?
normally look for £250 + to b put in within a month of opening the account (checek the t&c's to be sure)
as for deals, royal bank of scoland normally give you £50 free, and the 5 years free rail travel is normally good, but that changes bank yearly so im told, so be on the look out for that
the gimicky ones i found are the mp3 players or cd's, nice, but not essential
good luck0 -
Generally, bank accounts you have opened show up on your credit report. When you open another, the bank checks your credit report and will be able to see that you have another student account elsewhere... they may "overlook" that because it's not their problem.
BUT... most account terms & conditions state that the bank can periodically check your credit report, and so they will see you've got another student account somewhere else and cancel your overdraft, revoke your card, and may well close your account. Is it worth the risk?
And, IMHO, the freebies aren't worth the hassle of opening an account - if you travel by train a lot then go for the NatWest Student Account, but if not you should go for the Halifax/Bank of Scotland Student Account for the overdraft.0
