stacking washing machine & dryer - different brand

Our zanussi washing machine has broken down beyond repair and find myself liking a Panasonic/ Candy.
Currently a Zanussi dryer is on-top of the washing machine secured by a stacking kit. The question is: are these stacking kits only fit machines of same brand?
Anyone has any noise problem stacking tumble dryer atop washing machine without stacking kit?
thanks

Hi,
We have a hotpoint washing machine with a white knight tumble dryer on top. I haven't used a stacking kit although I have been looking for one for safety reasons.
It doesnt make any noise as it is and the tumble dryer hardly moves. Just have to remember to keep an eye on it.

went to JL today and did some measurements... even the new zanussi are narrower then my existing one, don't think I can reuse the stacking kit.
are Bosch w/machines made in germany? :think:0 -

I have a feeling some are made elsewhere now. Whether it actually matters or not I don't know.
For what it's worth I would choose the cheapest Miele washing machine over any model from any other brand. Miele build quality is the same whether you buy the cheapest or the most expensive from the range and it should last at least 10 years - they are designed to last much longer though.0 -
i have a Zanussi washing machine, with a Bosch td stacked on top. I dont think its expensive to buy another stacking kit if the one you have doesnt fit? I wouldnt leave the td unsecured as we have kids in the house.
our Zanussi washer is 12 years old and does at least 5 loads per week...only cost £280. I hope it never breaks as I am sure a new one twice the price would not last as long.0
