Ebay/paypal disputes - hypothetically...

If a buyer purchased a TV on eBay and the seller just sent the box full of bricks (to the same weight) instead of the TV and had proof of postage - how could eBay/Paypal prove who was lying when the buyer filed a dispute?

And vice visa - if the seller had sent the TV but the buyer claimed the box was full of bricks?

    I buy and sell on eBay and something like this happening to me has always been a concern. I've read ebay horror stories where paypal favoured unfairly to one party, and the police wouldn't do anything etc

    Well over on another forum that shall remain nameless, somebody *allegedly* sent a bag of rice instead of a camera, and the police arrested the seller while they searched his place. From what I recall they did'nt find the camera but he said he was in trouble over something unrelated that was found, and was going to sue the buyer because of this in case it affected his new job. True story.
    Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive :D

    police wont get involved with things like that. i had a issue in dec 08 the seller done it to about 30 people, half of us reported it and gave statements and the police didnt do anything! 6 months ago i bought gift vouchers got a bit of card and again police wouldnt do anything, not even take statement this time and paypal wouldnt help without a police report as they had a signature from special delivery
