Gas Safety Certificate

Hi, not quite sure which board to post this one on -

We has a Gas Central Heating System fitted in September last year and i was under the impression that the plumbers should have provided me with a Gas Safety Certificate upon completion of the work. To date i have received nothing, they are on the Gas Safety Register. They said they would contact Gloworm to register our boiler for us as Gloworm don't provide a benchmark book in their manual, they didn't do this. I contacted Gloworm last week to see if they had our details in the system and they didn't so they kindly registered our boiler and backdated the warranty. I have rang the plumbers on several occasions now and have been told its on its way. Are they fobbing me off?

Yes, they are. Give them a deadline and put that in writing if necessary. Might have been a good idea not to complete payment until you had all the paperwork from them.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Is the property rented? If not, Gas Safety Certificate not needed.

However, you should have a commissioning certificate like this.

No ,rented or not , new installation requires gas work notification to Gas Safe Register . GSR with send you the certificate direct . If you ani`t got it ring them with installer details and ask for free inspection .

    Thanks arfurrr.

Actually a 'Building Regulations compliance certificate' but my point was to differentiate from the "Gas Safety Certificate " referred to by the OP and required by landlords.
  • Thanks everyone, yes they are registered on Gas Safety Site. I did actually say that I would with hold payment until we had proof that they had installed central heating etc, and they got quick rude about it saying they didn't operate like that and balance was required immediately on completion of work. I will ring Gas Saftey line and ask for free check and certificate then.
