Although I agree the persistant phone calls are borderline harassment, you did show an interest in a loan originally. Therefore the member of staff (who will have targets to meet) will not assume otherwise until you actually tell her.

It may be worth putting in a formal complaint, but personally I think if you'd answered the phone, politely said "no" and "please don't contact me again", then the member of staff would have given up.

Completely agree with this. While the banking adviser should have taken the hint, on the other hand maybe a firm rejection is what was needed. Tell her in no uncertain terms that you're not interested - I suspect she would also appreciate that more than you simply avoiding her calls.

You can't report her of any harrassment if you haven't made it clear that you want it to stop.

    Post Office are as bad.

In fact you could argue they're worse as the things they try and sell you are, for me, completely unconnected to why I'm there.

    OP - Useful tip

If you reduce your overdraft limit by £10, it will push the review date back for 12 months to ensure it doesn't go missing all of a sudden in the near future.

I always find it ironic when i get asked to go for a financial review. So they want me who has never been in debt and can handle money, to take advice fron them who had to be bailed out and were millions in debt?

Indeed, well said, sadly the bankers on here will come up with all sorts of excuses to this irony.:)

    Myalastro,

I am very sorry to hear that's happened to you. Its certainly not what I've experienced.

When you do go to your LLoyds branch, tell them to opt you out of ALL marketing. (text, phone, e-mail, letters) Specify all!

You can make a complaint if you wish by writing in. It will be addressed straight away especially if it is in post. (recorded if possible)

Overdrafts are repayable at any time. To be honest, a little bit of self management in the future can help you reduce it. Times are hard at the moment and I know we are in a recession, but save yourself interest payments and being dependant on an overdraft all the time is not good. You'll reap the benefits in the long run.

If you feel strongly have a meeting with your branch manager.

    Good luck

I've had my local branch try and get me in for a 'review' many times. I fell for it the first time when the woman behind the counter made it sound like they needed to speak to me about my account urgently. I took time out of my lunch hour for an appointment only to find out they were trying sell me a credit card and an overdraft.

They do keep sending me letters offering to top up my already existing loan at crazy interest rates but they go straight in the bin.

The only thing to do it to get wise to the sales tactics and politely refuse, i'm sure all banks have similar incentives in place for their staff to talk people into these things and i'm just glad that I'm bolshy and wise enough to say NO!

Oh and make sure you opt out of marketing phone calls!!!

I get this all the time. I paid a cheque in for £20 at lunchtime last year and was asked if i wanted to sit down and discuss a mortgage!

Its not just banks though. Everytime i go into whsmiths i have to answer a tie break question before im allowed to buy a magazine, along the lines of "do you want a half price chocolate orange?"

And i routinely have my dinner interupted asking if i want to change my electrics, gas, phone, etc. It doesnt matter what time i sit down, ive tried all times but the phone rings! (and i have to answer as my grans got a panic button and if she presses it I get a call and the caller display shows withheld - the one day i dont answer, well i know it will be serious!.....)

Im able to say no of course, but I like the old days when i could go into a bank, shop, etc and just buy the item. pay in a cheque.... etc, and then walk out. All no nonsense.

I can see the day coming soon when im having a pee and a man in a tie pops out of the basin and says "before you flush this, did you know Mr ?????? that we can save you 5% on your water......."
