Problems with "The Range" - They want me to sign a 3rd finance contract!!

I ordered a bed last year from The Range store on 10 month finance, which was a nightmare from start to finish - firstly the store assistant told me the bed was out of stock but was due to be in with the next 3 days so I went home and got rid of my old bed to the garden. I didnt get any response to my calls in store so I went to visit them on the day I believed
the bed would be in stock. I was then told the date I was told was when it would be back in the warehouse(Why would I want to know that?) and wasn't I told it would take 2 weeks to come as standard to which I replied no. When I asked who it was that served me the member of
staff churpped up that it was in fact his wife! How akward did that make me feel! So I went home and waited, 2 and half weeks passed and not a word - we had been sleeping on a matteress on the floor for this time! So I called them, and they said we will call you back, when they did they said oh your matteress is in store but we've had to get your bed
put on emergency picking! (why on if its available on this option hasnt it been delivered within the standard time?) When it was delivered into store they then told me the delivery guy was on holiday until the weekend and it would be delivered between 9am-11am. So we got
up early and ready, I range to store they assured me it was coming by 11 it was no where to be seen. It didnt turn up til after 1pm, 2 men and a white van 1 of whom stank of alcohol, had my husband not been at home I would of refused them entry! They then told me I had to
pay them £20 delivery fee! Yes I agreed to delivery charge and assumed this would be part of the finance deal, as I made the contract with the Range so I had to go out and get the money for them to collect later! It gets worse on going to assemble the bed a part was missing
not a screw or nut, the whole foot of the bed! it shoul of been in one of the boxes as we had all 3 boxes but no it wasnt there. So I rang to store to complain and they had none in
stock so would remove the part from the store display, fine I thought then they couldnt deliver until they finished after 6pm!! The store is 15 mins drive away (but I dont have car) Why on earth a store member couldnt be sent out with the piece immediately I dont know!

I wrote a complient to The Range head office, and got a response saying basically I had heard wrong/misunderstood and the staff had done the right things and they wouldnt be compensating me in any way. I sent an email back to them and they never replied.

2 weeks after the complient letter arrived the store called, saying they needed me to sign a new finance contract as they had over charged me by £65! They were going to do the whole credit check again til I kicked off saying I didnt want my credit rating effected! So I went to store and signed it, stating my displeasure even the staff member agreed with me.

I thought that was it finished as this was about october 2009 but no this week 19th january 2010 they called again! Saying they need me to sign a 3rd contract! They couldnt tell me why and headoffice dont answer their helpine! I found out they havent taken any monthly payments from my bank account! The finance deal is with barclays the same as my bank account and they took copies of all my information.

Do I have to go and sign this 3rd contract? I ve kept my side of the deal, its not my fault they havent taken payment. what happens if I refuse to sign?

I wouldnt advise anyone to order anything from "The Range" store and definately not the Nottingham branch.

Thanks

Nazli

    Hi,

I would suggest not, as the amount hasn't changed ... you are liable for the payments, but may be able to get an agreement with them about paying the money over a longer period ...

I would repost this on the loans section of this board ... remove all the stuff about the bed not turning up, etc ... that is history, focus on the loan agreements you have had to sign ... maybe the 2nd agreement has expired??

I went and signed the contract, they said that barclays had refused the second one because it had been a photocopy but the store says it wasnt! So they made me sign it in blue, the contract in store was dated as and faxed on 9th of December 2009!
Its a joke, no store manager in, and the guy in the store said it wasnt their fault and the fault was with Barclays, but then said Barclays was saying the fault was with The Range!!!
    Thanks for the response.
