Back to work bonus

Hi folks

Wonder if anyone can help? thank you.

My son started new employment with our local council full time this week.

He did work on a contract basis for the DWP up until April 2009, so he had been receiving JSA as from April to 17 Jan 2010, without a break.

When he contacted the dept to inform them he will be starting work, he mentioned about the £100 back to work bonus, they just went through it and said he will be eligible if not had a break etc etc.

Well today he received his letter, the usual one just to say what they have paid him up to date in JSA, he would have been due to sign Tuesday just gone, so obviously the amount he received was a day down to the usual amount.
But there is no mention at all on the back to work bonus.

If anyone has any info on this and advice please that will be a great help, thank you.;)

back to work bonus was scrapped long ago, but there is an allowance called Jobgrant. The person must be in receipt of Income support or JSA for 26 weeks continuously before the date started work without any disallowances or sanctions. The job must also be expected to last more than 5 weeks. It is £100 for a single person and £250 for a couple. It can take up to a week to be released. Call the Jobcentre to check the above and if the claim was closed correctly.
