In Lidl they do a large jar of cherries in syrup, if you boil these down until they're really sticky and syrupy they make a gorgeous topping to ice cream, alternatively a good sauce for duck!!!!0

Raspberry (cheaper at pick your own and goof day out for the kids too)/strawberry (cheaper at pick-your-own, and a good day out for the kids too)/blackcurrant (free in most hedgerows!)/blackberry (PYI) etc. syrup/coulis type thing. Melt the ice cream and mix in, or just make the ice cream from scratch using it.0

We love it with a handful of rice krispies mixed in and a dollop of strawberry syrup.0

Chop up a Mars bar, melt it in a saucepan, slowly add some milk, then pour it over the ice cream - it's fantastic!0

You could buy some value chocolate, melt it and at the last moment add a little bit of milk. Makes a really nice creamy chocolate sauce topping, and unlike pure melted chocolate does not go hard as soon as you pour it over the cold ice cream... Lacto-Free Semi-Skimmed milk is currently try me free, so you could get the milk for free :-)0

Ice-cream soda. I've always made this with lemonade but my housemate who has lived in America recommends coke. I made an alcoholic ice-cream soda uing gin and lemonade which I thought was pretty good.
Milkshakes, banana is my fave, I wizz up a banana with milk and ice-cream. I don't like the syrups you can get as I find them too sweet and artificial tasting. You can do alcoholic milkshakes as well using Bailey's, whisky or brandy, Nutella or instant hot-choc powder, milk and ice-cream.
Banana baked in tinfoil or fried in butter with a spoonful of honey and a splash of brandy or dark rum, vanilla ice-cream on the side.
If you can get a jar of stem ginger in syrup that is the most wonderful stuff with vanilla ice-cream. I think I'll have to go and buy some now I've thought of that.
Make up some strong, sweet coffee and whizz it up with plenty of milk and a scoop of ice cream for a refreshing iced cofee.
Melted nutella with a little milk, also nice with a splash of Bailey's mixed in, is good as a sauce, also jam melted down with a bit of water to make it runnier.
Canned fruit is good for pud. Canned peaches or manadarins are especially cheap though for some reason I now find myself fancying vanilla ice-cream with canned pineapple and a splosh of overproof rum. I think I'm starting to sound a bit of an alccy here. Probably because I know I don't have enough money to go and buy any.0
