  • My other half has just finished a HND, and is going onto another Uni to jump onto a third year of a degree in the same subject the HND was in. My partner ashamedly never got round to sorting out a student account. Would he be able to apply for this student account?? He already holds an account with HSBC.

What do HSBC mean when they say a acceptance offer ? Do I have to wait until I get my results or will a conditional letter suffice to open an account

your acceptance letter is the one which you recieve when you get your results and the university accepts you, some banks may allow you to set up your account before the results but you wont get any of the benefits (freebies overdraft) until your accepted into a university. speak to somebody at a branch of Hsbc and ask whether you could use your conditional letter to set up the account.
I know the rules of punctuation and grammer I just choose to ignore them (or forget them half the time)... Apologies in advance

HSBC won't let you use a conditional offer. They will set up a Student Account for you and provide you with the cheque books, debit card, etc. so that will all be out the way and you can use the account in the meantime.

You need to provide either an unconditional offer or the letter you receive shortly after results from your university - take this in to them and they'll be able to activate your overdraft and freebies :)
  • Hi, i have just finished college and awaiting my A-level results to go to uni. I have recently changed my HSBC account to a 'Student Account'.
I used my ucas conditional offer letter to open the account and they said this is ok. I have also noticed that my overdraft is also immediatly available to used!

i got my account converted from normal current to student. not sure if i will get the free gift/s - i should. however the main benefit is my £750 overdraft should now be at 0% instead of 14.9%. they haven't increased it to the maximum £1000 though.
