Vauxhall Warranty

Hi looking for any help with this. I have an 09 Corsa (aug) and the wipers have started to hit the ouside edge of the window which is very noisy and could be damaging to the paintwork. I took the car to the local Vauxhall garage and they have quoted me £330 to get the wiper system replaced as it has been bent. The mechanic said it would have been due to the snow and ice but is not covered under warranty as vauxhall have had so many coming in they are now getting customers to pay for it!! I didn't use my wipers when they were frozen (i'm blonde but not totally stupid) so I cannot understand why this is not covered by the warranty. This has never happened to any other car i have owned and I'm not happy at being £330 out of pocket:mad:
Any advice greatly appreciated

  • With the wipers off, does the resting position of one of the wipers at the bottom of the windscreen seem higher than the other?
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • They will be using the snow as an excuse to get people to pay. Which in a way is right, as lots of people, my OH included use the wipers to move the snow. Which annoys me.

You could always just bend the drivers wiper arm a little bit so that it doesnt catch.

Yes the one that is hitting the edge is higher. The mechanic said the arm has bent and the whole system needs replaced
  • Well just bend it back rather than replacing the whole system. Simples.

I'm sure in the olden days I'd have taken the wiper off its spindle and moved it round one spline.
