How will DLA effect housing benefit?

I get LRM and LRC for my eldest and also HB. Do they take off the difference from HB?

#No DLA is a non means tested benefit

No, DLA is disreagarded as income but it could mean that you may get more HB as you would qualify for a disabled child premium so you should tell them!

  • Don't forget to tell Child Tax Credits.
There is a disability premium which should increase your entitlement.

But do they not just take off the extra you get on tax credits off your HB? /sorry for all the questions:o

No they don't,as far as I am aware. I get full CTB even though I get the disabled and severe disabled element ctc for my son. The disabled child element alone is £2,670 so well worth claiming for.

    Hi there

Just to clarify, if you are awarded extra child tax credit, this may well decrease the amount of CTB and HB that you receive but by notifying the council (which you are obliged to do anyway), they will increase your applicable amount to include a disabled child premium so it should offset the decrease from tax credits hopefully
