Currently between us we get around £1440, thats her fulltime wage, my IS and HB. Going with the £54 HB rate, we would get £1350 so £100 less a month with a baby to pay for?

Bet you're kinda wishing you done your sums before the deed eh?!;)

What a splendid word...I am going to make it my word of the day tomorrow and endeavour to use it in conversation :)

She's still classed as working even when she's on maternity leave. When filling in a tax credits for you can deduct £100 for every week thats she on maternity leave i.e. if she takes 26 weeks then deduct £2600 from her income.

If you want to know (roughly) how much tax credits your going to get contact the tax credit helpline on 0845 300 3900 or nip to an enquiry centre.

Unfortunatley I don't know anything about HB and CT benefit, tax credits are my fortay lol. Child benefit will be £20 every week. She should have gotten £190 for a health in pregnancy grant.

Contact the DWP in relation to IS and such, they should be able to advise what will happen!

In theory you can but probably wont earn enough at your 12 hour a week job to qualify.

What are your hourly rates and do you even do overtime?

I love it, I am 32 with no children as yet because my mum brought me up not to do things I cant afford to pay my own way for!!
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

LOL no mention of who should be supporting her when she is expecting his baby.

Wish I had the insouciance of the young.

Why would I mention that, seems a tad obvious, doesnt it?

It still amazes me that people have nothing better to do with their time than to post self rightous rubbish on peoples threads, trying to make themselves out to be of such a morally high standard, yet feel the need to post negativity on my thread.

I really fail to understand why someone would take time out of their day to do such things.

Why post on my thread if you've got nothing constructive to say?

    One can only ponder.

When income changes you will need to supply housing benefit the wageslips monthly so they can re-asses what the award is going to be!
Is she going to return to work after maternity leave?

we're not sure if shes going to return to work yet, will see how it goes.

yes, I realise this but the good people at the council have a backlog of 'change of circumstances' forms to deal with. Can foresee complications as I cant see it being a case of going in and saying heres some payslips, our circumstances have changed, can you amend our HB to suit please and it gets sorted for the next pay date.

When you've waited 11+ weeks for a change of circumstances to take affect, having no money to pay your rent with the same council before, you tend not to have much optimism with them the next time round.

You make it sound so very simple, if only that was the way.
