Hey guys
My husband and I are in a rented property and we will be getting a new landlady as of April 1st! She is a good friend and purchased the house for us! (wow!)
Now, she came over with a friend to discuss changes to the house, overall this is what is happening;
Garage to office conversion (with small partition for storage and wracking)
Patio being ripped up and replaced with decking and fencing for allotment & chickens!
Side passage being covered over and gravel to replace patio bricks
Loft & garage Insulation
Cavity wall insulation
Bedroom gutting with laminate flooring to go down (for future kid!)
New Extractor Fan
& Various other things as we go!
She is paying for the majority of this, and as she is a good friend and doing this for us, we want to help keep the costs down as much as possible. We have a few friends who can help with labour and an ex-electician who could possibly help as still qualified. If you have ANY advice on where to buy materials or how to keep the costs low that would be really greatly appreciated.
So far I know: (not much)
loft insulation 2 for 1 with npower
garage conversion: partially raised flooring with insulation, plasterboard inside office and plywood outside (apparently its cheaper?) plastering over the breezeblocks
thank you

Has the ceiling got anything to fit the plasterboard to (Joists) If so then the following applies, Assuming it is a standard size garage it should take a plasterer and a labourer no more than two days to board ceiling, dot and Dab walls with board, tape and doule skim up. Labour approx £500 (This is Worcestershire prices)
Give me the measurments and ill let you know how much materilas will be.
