We have gradually been changing lightbulbs to energy saving especially after getting 10 for £1 in argos a while back.
Now in a few rooms we have spotlights and I am considering removing them and going back to normal lightpendants so we can put energy saving bulbs in.
One problem we have in kitchen, it is 18ft long and we have recessed spotlights in celing, 8 of them. so a bulb blew tonight and hubby says " you can get energy saving spotlight bulbs now " great say me.
Nooooooooooo just checked online and between £6 and £9 for one bulb !!! sorry but now spending that much.
I remember when energy saving bulbs came out at first where really expensie, lets hope they all come down in price.

If you mean the GU10 bulbs I believe I have seen them in B+Q in packs of four for about £10 .These are not the over sized GU10 bulbs that are available but are to look at like normal bulbs !! they save about 30% electricity over normal GU10 bulbs0

GU10 halogen replacements: unbranded Xenon 35W (£1.20 each eBay)
MR16 halogen replacements: Philips Masterline E/S 30W (£3 each eBay)
Both are plus p&p but the sellers were happy to do a good deal on bulk purchase.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
we are in the process of replacing our GU10 bulbs with energy savers im really pleased with them yep they cost £6 each from asda, but are supposed to last min of 6 years (the philips masterline states 2 years on the box) so to me hopefully the math works out fine as the cheap GU10 in asda are £1.20 each and i was getting less then a year from them.0

are they the longer ones that stick out ?0

Yes they are a couple of mm longer then the GU100

Personally speaking , if you have replaced many of your other bulbs with energy savings ones I would just downsize the wattage of the kitchen ones to the 35W GU10 ones mentioned above.
The low energy LEd Gu10's I have seen have had an awful light and were very expensive. Downsizing from 50W to 35W does not impact massively on the light emmission but will save you some pennies off your bill for no higher outlay0
