in 2007 i cancelled my mobile phone contract with t mobile and a month after it was cancelled they tried billing me for another month, I refused to pay it and didn't hear much off them after a while so naive me thought oh they've let me off then (lol) until today when I checked my credit report as I was struggling to get a loan and ive never missed payments off anything else and this t mobile credit agreement said it had not been paid for 6 months and so was defaulted... nw what do i do? do i have to wait another 3 years for it to go off my record or can i pay it so its not defaulted anymore, i would have just paid the bill if i knew this would have happened!!!

Its 6 years from the date the default was placed for it to come off.
I would get in touch with T-Mobile and tell them you cancelled this account following their cancellation procedure. When they tried to bill you for the following month you informed them of their mistake and you did not hear back as the account was in your belief now successfully closed.
The missed payments and subquent default you have placed in error is affecting my ability to get further credit products, since they were placed in error under DPA you must ensure information is accurate and as such am informing you to remove the missed payments and default from my credit report. If you fail to comply without giving legal reasoning to why you will not remove them, i will take my complaint to the ICO and OFCOM to investigate further.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

its been 3 years since the default was put on but if i paid it off and they agreed to take the default off would it be actually taken off my credit report or would it still show one of my accounts was defaulted?
thats if i get anywhere anyway, theres no email to write to, to ask them anything you need and account!!! grrr0 -
If the amount remains unpaid, you can negotiate with them to remove the default. But writing to them will mean admitting to the debt so most likely they will begin to pursue for the amount with no guarantee they would offer to remove the default in exchange for payment.
If you really need it remove you could try and argue with them first that it should never have been applied
A) You cancelled correctly.
You were never notified your account was in arrears.
C) The default notice was never sent to your address, making the default invalid.
This might be a handy read for the CCA topic - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=26867863#post26867863
Not sure if it needs changes as CCA does not apply to mobile contracts.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

If you don't owe it, and by that, I mean you have played by the book and closed the account properly, PLEASE don't pay it but pursue the inaccurate data route to clear your file.its been 3 years since the default was put on but if i paid it off and they agreed to take the default off would it be actually taken off my credit report or would it still show one of my accounts was defaulted?
I believe that there are too many false debts being made up from incomplete data - and if you do pay up, it just rewards them for making up false debts. So they will carry on making them up as a profitable activity.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. oh ive just rechecked my credit report as i only whizzed through it the other night and ive noticed on oct 2007 was when it was 'defaulted' and nov 2007 it was classed as 'settled'... so what does this mean??? sorry if im coming across as a dunce but can this still affect my credit rating as there was a default put on it originally even if it has been settled? and if i did get in touch with t mobile and they agreed to take it off would it wipe it clear so to speak? thanksssssssss0

It looks like they put a default on, decided it was an error and marked it as settled. This will damage your credit rating. If the default was in error and was not marked as settled because you paid, then both entries should be removed.oh ive just rechecked my credit report as i only whizzed through it the other night and ive noticed on oct 2007 was when it was 'defaulted' and nov 2007 it was classed as 'settled'... so what does this mean??? sorry if im coming across as a dunce but can this still affect my credit rating as there was a default put on it originally even if it has been settled? and if i did get in touch with t mobile and they agreed to take it off would it wipe it clear so to speak? thanksssssssssHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Give it upto 60 days to come off, 30 days for t mobile, and 30 days for the CRA (your report) to be updated with the change.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

It sounded too easy. Write them a short letter, confirming the details of the conversation and the date you will check.
