Help with description, is it perfect?!

Hi, Im selling some CDs on eBay.

Its pretty much all I sell on there, just my old collection.

I have this rare CD which came out in 1994. It is in near perfect condition. In the listing I put 'excellent condition' Ive had someone msg me asking if it is in 'perfect' condition.

Now, to me it is. You could buy it in a shop tomorrow and not realize how old it is.

I wrote back just saying its 'excellent condition' though if I say its perfect then the slightest wear and tear my cause a PP claim I dont need a neg write now since another buyer gave me loads of neautrals (sp?) because I took 2 days to post

How would you of handled it? Did I do the right thing?

I have had this recently, i have some listed in very good condition and got a message asking its it in like new condition, to which i replied that it was in very good condition but had been used a couple of times (which it had).

I would have done what you have done too.

If your buyer is a collector or dealer then perfect will mean 'as new' to him. So I would certainly be telling him , as you have done, that is not the case and this has been played even if it doesn't have a single mark on the disc.

I have to say when I get questions like that I would block the buyer.:o

A few years ago I was selling off some of DH's old vinyl. I had a question on the last day of an auction asking some very specific details, and requesting a high quality close up image of a tear in the sleeve that I had mentioned in the listing (there was already a fairly good picture of it in the listing). When I inspected his feedback it was clear that he had left a lot of negs of the form "item described as A+++, was actually only A+ condition" and that sort of thing. If someone looks like trouble, they probably are!

You need to be careful with books, records and so on as everyday words like good and fine have specific meanings and often make a great difference to the value. If it is not correctly described you will risk bad feedback.

As a book seller I agree and usually sell at one grade lower than I think, just in case.

I know that, I was referring to the record collector grading system when I sold them. But when someone is buying a lot of vinyl and leaves negs for at least 20% of their sellers saying they graded them wrongly, would you really want to risk being on the receiving end of their pickiness? I know I didn't. I didn't get such detailed requests from any of the other buyers.
