I would say he has paid more tax in Norway than he would do here (par for the course), but he cannot get the surplus back here I'm afraid.

That could be his travel tickets? Taxable in Norway apparently. I don't know how that is treated here.

It could be like being paid to travel to your office here, which is taxable. I think you need to ask HMRC on that one.

You may need to enter that as additional income. You need to ask HMRC

You claim the tax paid in Norway ( 22188) as the relief.

    Was he paid/reimbursed the 5011?

Well, I hope it is correct!! You have put in the figures they told you to use, so presumably it should be.

Did you enter the 5011 as a benefit? Even if it is, he has still paid enough tax.

thats what i dont understand he has only actually paid out £17176 in tax (from his payslip) and they seem to have paid the rest-which is £5011- as a "foreign taxable benefit"? He doesnt actually pay this at all? This is why i was so confused.

Yes, I was just thinking that. Maybe you need to enter the 5011 as a benefit so it is added to his pay for the tax here.

Can you ring these people and ask them what it is all about?

Do the figures add up to his nett pay?
