Self assessment foreign tax credit??? Anyone know??

Options
Hubbie works for oil service company in Uk for a norwegian company. They have sent details for us to fill in self assessment but can't work out where they should go?? it says

(employment) Pay in the employment £65,632
(employment) tax deducted £17,176
(employment) foreign taxable benefit £5011
(foreign) Foreign tax credit £22,188
(employement) employment expenses £5011

Then it says in foreign tax credit relief section (which i can't find) put
(country) NOK
(foreign tax paid) £22188
(to claim foreign tax relief) X
(taxable amount) £65632

I am completelty confused as to where and to whom the tax has been paid uk or norway or both??? Can anyone make head or tail of this for me I am tearing my hair out many thanks

According to the post he works in the UK, not Norway. If he does not work in Norway he should not be claiming relief in the UK.

    Does he work in Norway?

You should also enter the details on the employment page but note that no UK tax has been deducted (which is presumably the case)

Just take the gross earnings, deduct the personal allowance then its so much at 20%, the rest at 40%. Details of the figures are on HMRC website. Remember to add any other income such as savings interest.

Answer ......£16878.80 if no other income (on an income of £65632)
