Hi - I too am new to all this Allotment stuff, got mine in December and have only been able to get over there a couple of times because of the Snow/frost etc but just spent a full day over there today and it was great.:j Got loads of digging done, the Plot is in not too bad a state but hasn't been used for some months so a fair bit of de-weeding to do and digging over. Have potatoes chitting and have made a list of what I would like to grow, already have the seeds as I have been growing in the Garden for a number of years but run out of space, hence the reason for putting my name down for an Allotment.

Although the Plot hasn't been used for some time I'm quite lucky with Fruit trees/bushes that are already there, got the following:- Damson, Plum tree(not sure of variety), gooseberry bushes, raspberries, tayberries, a cobnut, blueberry bush and strawberries so really only need to sort out veg, potatoes and salad stuff for this year.

Met a lot of my fellow Allotmenteeers over the last few weeks over there and they are a real friendly bunch.;)

Shall be coming over here more often for tips etc - happy allotmenting everyone.

Try to get seed potatos that are from a more blight resistant spud :) Nothing more disheartening than seeing your beautiful rows of spuds wilt in a matter of days from blight :(

Links to some to help you get started :)

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS SITE !!!!

I ordered from them before Christmas and they have taken another unauthorised payment from my account.
I have emailed them 4 times now, to try to sort this out and they have not bothered to even acknowledge my contact.
I am now having to do a chargeback through my bank !!
I am posting this wherever I see their name mentioned on internet forums, as a warning, that if you do buy from them....watch your bank account to make sure they don't take any unauthorised payments from you.
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!

Just to say good luck! I've had an allotment for over 8 years now - some good things, some not so successful. My advice, just keep a diary to record what works & what doesn't. That way you learn over the years & build up experience - I've tried some really daft things that have been a great success, & some really normal things that have failed - that's the fun of it!
