No more Hotmail access from Outlook / Express

Microsoft are stopping access to Hotmail accounts through Outlook and Outlook Express.

If you try and register a new Hotmail account now in OE it refuses to download mail from it.

Exisiting accounts are OK for the time being but support will be withdrawn sometime this year.

Does anyone know of a way around this, please don't tell me to sign up for another email account as I use Hotmail heavily and it ain't practical to change! I would rather keep using OE if possible as well.

You can join hotmail's subscription service for £14.99 per year.

The reported reason BTW for this withdrawal of service is

To protect our users from the increasing amount of unsolicited junk e-mail or spam sent from MSN HotmailSympatico Mail accounts through Outlook and Outlook Express, we have reluctantly had to restrict the new use of Outlook and Outlook Express to subscribers.

which is a load of cobblers as spammers have other ways to send zillions of e-mails
