Best MP3 player (or MP3/MP4) for £30-£40-ish? Too little?

Can I get a decent MP3 or MP3/MP4 player for just £30-£40-ish? I could go a little higher.

Ideally I'd like something that can play videos - WMV, AVI, etc - and not just a proprietary format, that I have to convert using the player's software. Is this too much to ask?

I'm dreaming here - but MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, OGG, JPEG, BMP and FM would be great.

It doesn't have to be a new model - something 1 or 2 years old would do, or even an early portable video player.

Can you stretch to £45? The 2GB Sansa Fuze does everything you want (except video does need to be converted), sounds great, has a radio and you can add more memory when you can afford it as it has a card slot.

battery life on 1 full charge, well on continuous playback no stopping / pausing I got 7hrs 12min, battery is internal nothing to change. volume 0-32 trust me you'll never use 32, i use a setting of 6-10 depends on the quality of my mp3's.

small and compact, i love it, and can be used as a portable drive, can be recharged either from mains plug or by usb lead.

Agree with Fifer, the Sansa Fuze is a great player, £45 form Amazon. I got mine delivered yesterday, great sound, radio, easy to transfer music.

I have added 8gb micro sd card so have a 10gb player for £56 in all.
