Hi,
Can anyone please tell me how I would fix a lcd tv to a wall bracket?
Do the tv and the wall bracket need to be the same make, or are the brackets usually compatable?
The tv is a 19" LG and the Hama bracket take a 20kg load but it looks flat, where do the fixing go
Thanks for any help.

Can't really help with specifics but we bought a bracket off ebay and you screw the tv onto it. Word of warning though don't use the rawl plugs etc that come with the bracket! I was a bit naieve and thought if they came with it they should be the right ones, luckily we would stood admiring our handywork when it fell off the wall and we caught it! 32" as well! :eek:0

An organisation called VESA define the standards for fixing LCDs/Plamsa to brackets (amongst other things). The TV will have a set of VESA mounting holes at either 75mm or 100mm centres, check in the manual. The bracket usually will have both sets so can be used to suit either.
Be sure you fix the bracket to the wall VERY securely - if a plasterboard wall then ONLY fix on studs or noggins, not the plasterboard.0 -
Thanks for replying Becs,
So am I right in thinking there are appropiate holes in the back of the TV?
So glad you managed to 'save' your TV...yikes!!

If both the TV and bracket are VESA, then yes.
One word of warning though - I have a TV which is a 19" (maybe 20"?) and bought a VESA bracket. The bracket was massive compared to the TV and although it didn't block any sockets, it makes them very difficult to access and get the cables in!0 -
choose a small bracket for a small tv so you wont see it behind when it is mounted, I brought flat ones to use on the end of our beds from tescos for £10, and swivel arm one from Ikea for £15 for mounting on the wall. Id advise putting all you cables in the back before mounting it. Normally they come in 2 pieces one to fix to the tv and the other to the wall then you join them together. The tesco one just slides into the wall braket and the ikea one used 1 bolt.0

i bought one from a power seller on ebay, and i lost a bolt and the ebay chap kindly sent me a full spare pack of fixings. The fixings on my 26" tv bracket used quite heavy duty bolts, not screws.0 -
Hi Look at these guides from Sanus these will help you.
Fitting a 19" wall support

A 19" tv is not too heavy and should be easy to mount. There is a wide variety to choose from, have a look and get advice in John Lewis. We chose one where the tv can swivle, pan and tilt.
Try to locate the bracket onto a joist. Do not rely on rawl plugs there are better methods for fixing."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

just back from Ikea and i see they seel LCD tv brakcets for 10-30" Tvs for £9.99. Bracket had variable connection to fit to back of TV, so guess it should fit most VESA types.0
