I have just read in the paper today (Daily Mail) that Tesco is launching its first BOGOF..Later, in a move to cut food waste.
Shoppers will be able to postpone getting their free second pack of a product to a later trip.
During the next two weeks people buying pineapple, melon, salad & lettuce offers can claim their free product on the same day or pick one up the following week( if they choose this option they will be given a voucher to claim for the item).
Thought i'd post this from reading similar threads where people complain about waste from such offers.

there not daft, if it is the case that you have to return the following week to get the product, all they are doing is guaranteeing they have yor custom the following week, and dressing it up to look like they are trying help the enviroment, there should not be any time limit to retrieve he product in my opinionTake every day as it comes!!0

I don't think you have to, it's not compulsory. You can choose to take both products now or just one and come back for one at a later date.
Those that come back later will probably buy other things too.0 -
Yes it's just giving you the choice you can have both then or take one item & pick your free item up later on another shop visit. Of course like you say its going to make you return hence spending more money on other items but if you shop there anyway its just giving you choice to get your item later & reduce chance of waste.

Great idea I wish Sainsburys did it too"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -
good idea as long as they have enough stock on your return visit. Its just a clever ploy to get you back through the doors at a later date.0

It is just a trial at the moment. They are trying it this week and next on those couple of products. If it works out then the plan is to roll it out for all the fresh food BOGOFs shortly after. You'll probably find that no-one at the checkouts will have a clue about it.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Surely if they do this offers will have to be extended for at least a week or more usually offers last week but not all offers. Sure they do keep stock of goods when they not on offer but demand will be slightly higher. Then whats happens if goods are out of stock on 2nd week?0

I got Sainsburys baguettes on BOGOFlater (got to be a catchier name for that) in November...I almost forgot to pick up the next free one...but I remembered so it was OK
It was Sainsburys Central in Croydon though...maybe it was just a trial?0 -
This would annoy me as I'd just have it on my mind I had to go back to get the second one the whole time and then wondering if they would have it in stock when I went. I'd rather just have 1 item at a lower price..0

Great idea for those who have children at Uni, who can send the vouchers to help subsidise their shop!0
