yes but you completely missed the point and that is we are part of europe now! and as such their laws our ares as well!
Yes, but you completely miss the point that there is no such "EU Law".
Here is how it actually works: The EU issues Directives which are ~not~ laws, and they are not legally enforceable in any EU country.
Each member state is then required to interpret the content of the Directive and create - if needed - a law in that member state that meets the requirements of the Directive.
In the UK, it was decided that the SOGA is in every way better than the Directive required, so there is no need for any new law, and certainly no UK law requiring a manufacturer to provide a 2 year warranty. As MartyJ points out, the Directive addresses the responsibilities of the seller, ~not~ the manufacturer.
So please stop propagating this urban myth - it is not helpful to consumers in any way. It is just wrong, and is leading to people getting laughed at by shop staff when they demand that the shop respects a "law" that does not exist.0
