i am shopping around, for a new BB & phone supplier - am currently with Utility Warehouse (my current phone costs are £15.63 pm - including all landline calls free plus internet £15.32 pm - all plus VAT of course)
i use the phone much more in the day than at night.....
i have called many companies and they all seem to offer free weekend and evenings calls landline and mobiles, but, then want to charge 8p 9p per call connection charge for daytime calls.. this will end up costing me a lot more...
anyone any ideas please ? its all so confusing... i guess they want it to be .. so we give up wanting to change....

You'd still pay a connection charge (5p) but, if it's to an 01, 02 or 03 number, at least it would also pay for the whole call.
OTOH, if you make more than 100 weekday daytime calls per month, BT's Unlimited Anytime Plan (£4.99) works out cheaper.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Heinz, do I pay BT if I dial and can't get through? (say, no one pick up the phone)
I see on my 18185 bill many calls for less than 25 sec , and each and every one cost 5p.
Am I right to think that I get charged any time I use the 18185 prefix regardless of anyone answering on the other end?
Also my wife dialed by mistake something like 181851 hanged up immediately when she realise her mistake however we were charged £1.5 for the pleasure, is this common?Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

No.
No. The 5p is only charged when the called number answers.I see on my 18185 bill many calls for less than 25 sec , and each and every one cost 5p.

The called number probably answered immediately the last digit was dialled. The system was quicker in its response than your wife. Also my wife dialed by mistake something like 181851 hanged up immediately when she realise her mistake however we were charged £1.5 for the pleasure, is this common?0 -

Not sure if any of these packages on offer will serve your requirements.
They are a first class company, I have been with them for over 3 years.
