Anyone know the cheapest way to fly to either of the above airports. We are looking to go on 10th April and return on 17th or 18th - 2 ad 3 kids.
Cheapest I have found is Easyjet from MAN £683.25 (inc 2 suitcases)
Are there any cash back sites for easyjet or other airlines?
thanks in advance

Ryanair Liverpool to Granada 11-18 April would be cheaper if you has a prepaid Mastercard and are not taking too much luggage. £433 plus £30 per 15kg suitcase. Easyjet from Liverpool to Malaga 10-17 April is also about £200 cheaper, but with poor flight times (not arrive till 11pm, get back at 2am). No cashback on Easyjet or Ryanair. Jet2 and several charter airlines have cashback, but the amounts are small.0

Where do you need to get to? Is Almeria also an option to try if you are staying near to Granada (not much further in terms of driving than from Malaga)0

Birmingham to Malaga with Ryanair is coming out at £425 before card fees and baggage (11th-18th)0

We are staying in Lecrin valley. Need to arrive in the day if possible (esp if we have an more than 1 hour drive) as I think place we are staying may be difficult to find in the dark!!
Unless Liverpool/Birminham is more than £50 cheaper it's not really worth it for us in terms of getting there (we live North Sheffield). Have now found Jet2 from MAN £547.
Thanks for the help ~ keep the suggestions coming as I can't book until tonight.0 -
Looking at the dates I suspect you are travelling in the Easter school holidays, this will always push up the fares. Not helpful, but reality.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

There are lots of charter flights to Malaga: check out the main travel agent sites like Thomas Cook, or even ask in a local high street travel agent.0

Yes, I know the Lecrin Valley – we have a house there. Which village are you staying in? If you haven’t been before it probably is best to try and get a daytime flight. If the Manchester flights are a good time them I would go with them. We prefer to travel to Malaga even though it is further to drive just because the flight times are better (Stansted to Granada are evening flights). Almeria would still be a possibility but is a little bit further to drive than Malaga, so wouldn’t be worth it unless flights much cheaper (only benefit of Almeria is quieter airport and not such busy roads as you leave the airport).0 -
We are staying in Melegis.
Any tips for things to do /places to see would be helpful. We have three children DD(12), DS's (7+11). It will be DS's 7th birthday whilst we are there.
We are wanting to go to Alhambra palace and have been advised to book before hand - any recommendations of how to book this (we will drive there).
Also any recommendations for car hire co's.
Thanks in advance.0 -

Hi there
Melegis is pretty easy to find from the main road so you shouldn’t have too much trouble.
The tickets for the Alhambra can be bought on the following website (there is a button to translate into English) – pre-booking is a must.

The Alhambra is well signed as you get close to Granada from the main road leading from the Lecrin Valley. There is a good and large car park which is not too expensive, and you can also get a little hoppa bus from the car park which takes you into Granada town itself which is well worth a visit.
Other places worth a visit are:
- Sierra Nevada (again well signposted from Granada where you can have a nice walk/look at the ski village (about 45-60 mins from Melegis)
- Opposite the Lecrin Valley is the Alpujarras mountains – follow the signs from Lanjaron and you can go up to the pretty villages of Pampaneira and Bubion etc. which are really pretty little villages and the drive is lovely through the mountain roads
- Salobrena – this is the nearest seaside town and is very pretty. It is about 25 mins from Melegis and you may well pass it if you drive along the coast road from Malaga airport. As you come into the town just head straight towards the Playa (beach) as you don’t want to get stuck driving round the old town (steep and narrow). There are a few lovely seafood restaurants directly on the beach. For a bigger seaside town go for Almunecar which is another 7-10 mins along the coast road from Salobrena
There are small local shops in Melegis but you will probably want to go to Durcal for slightly bigger supermarkets, butchers, greengrocers etc. (this is a couple of junctions along the motorway in the direction of Granada – say 7-8 min drive). If I remember correctly the market in Durcal is on a Wednesday. If you want a really big supermarket shop it is worth heading into Granada where there is a Carrefour Hypermarket.
There are a couple of places to eat in area close to you. Meson Despensa in Restabal is usually a good bet in terms of simple home cooked food. Bar Venezia in Pinos De Valle is good as well as they have a terrace overlooking the mountains (not a restaurant but you do get free tapas with every round of drinks – this is normal for Granada so you often don’t even need to buy a meal if you have a few drinks!) .The Valley is not awash with restaurants and most of it is cheap and cheerful simple stuff. However, we tend to just buy lots of fresh stuff and cook at home and enjoy the view.
For car hire we usually use www.carjet.com, however, worth shopping around as car hire seems expensive this year.
I don’t know if you are doing a private rental or via an agent (or have to pick up keys from an agent). If you are and the agent is Via Sur, they can also provide loads of information on things to do and how to books stuff.
Have fun!0 -
